In the Middle Ages - and since the Roman occupation, when they were called Pitius - the Piis was influential lords in the region. Their vineyards were always planted on the slopes of the hills on which they built their châteaux. Limestone shows through the surface of these rounded hills, as if planted in the clayey soil. The Piis winemaker now looks after a small vineyard (12 h) and uses high-quality growing techniques. The wine is therefore very elegant and has a real typicity.
