Some people prefer a sweeter wine than the delightful dry Lys Blanc. And here it is: Le Lys d'or, whose name comes from its appealing "jewellery" colour. A long time ago in the Buzet region, the winemakers used to mature and produce a "rotten wine". Obviously, it wasn't the wine that was rotten, but the grapes, which had been affected by the famous "noble rot". Harvested late, when the first frosts came, they produced an outstanding sweet wine. A fortified wine, rich in sugar, that provided an elegant accompaniment to the very best goose foie gras. You can now find this wine again. It's called Le Lys d'or.
